BENCH 30 DORSET
A substantial 6’ long Victorian bench of late C19th origins showing designs and motifs that were very popular in that period. The ornate bench supports show a Crown and Thistle, a Rose and a Shamrock amongst an abundance of Acanthus leaves, collectively portraying the Union or Royal pattern, bringing together the nations of The British Isles. At the head of the scrolled armrest there is a Lions Head. There appears to be a faint, indistinguishable foundry maker’s stamp but the bench was possibly manufactured in Scotland by Walter Macfarlane & Co., or a contemporary. The bench supports and hardwood seating are aged but in perfectly usable condition. This wonderful piece of garden iron art is ideal for a permanent fixture overlooking your garden or grounds.
