A beautifully designed antique garden bench known as the Carron pattern no. 4 produced by the Falkirk Ironworks in Scotland in 1890. The Falkirk Foundry and Carron are one of the same. The Carron Company, set up on the banks of the River Carron, was established in Falkirk in 1759 and was one of the world’s first large-scale industrial manufacturers. This particular bench was owned for five decades by the writer of 'BUNTY' a British girl's popular comic magazine, first created in 1958. 

The bench is a fine example of the period's naturalistic feel as the rustic armrests and leg castings were designed to mimic the organic look of gnarled tree branches. It has now been totally restored. Painted in Moss Green RAL 6005, a traditional colour in Victorian times, and with new European Oak seating slats held down with stainless steel bolts, this is a sturdy and elegant bench for any garden. These examples of original, antique benches with high quality castings and hardwood timber are becoming more rare each year so long term they are not only pleasant  to use and enjoy but also a sound investment.
