    BENCH 84 IRONBRIDGE

    £1,195.00

This is a genuine, highly desirable 6' cast iron garden bench produced by the renowned Coalbrookdale company during the mid to late Victorian period. The 'Elterwater' pattern is one of the firm's most celebrated and sought after patterns. The design is a masterful example of the 19th century passion for the rustic or naturalistic style intended to harmonise with garden settings. Each end is artfully cast to mimic the appearance of gnarled, interwoven tree branches, a composition that is both structurally sound and aesthetically sophisticated.

Despite its weathered condition, the authenticity and the prestige of the maker ensure it will remain a valuable and collectible example of 19th century industrial art. It has not been restored in our workshop as we like the look of it as it is. The seat slats are most probably oak and fixed with steel bolts. The cast iron Faux Boix supports are seriously heavy and in great condition. The iron balls on the top are a lovely touch to this wonderful piece of antique garden art.
