A C20th cast iron garden bench in the Coalbrookdale Fern and Blackberry style. It is a fine reproduction, manufactured by Broomside Foundry of the original design, number 113617, which was registered and patented by the Coalbrookdale Iron Foundry at the Public Record Office on 30th April, 1858. It is seat number 29 in their 1875 Castings Catalogue.

When it arrived in the workshop the ironwork was in great condition both structurally and surface finish so we decided to keep the existing treatment rather than strip and re-paint. The slats however were replaced with 20mm thick Sapele hardwood fixed with stainless steel bolts and finished with three coats of Danish oil. This is fine and very heavy cast iron reproduction of an English classic bench originally made c1890, that will provide a statement for your garden for a generation or two and be a sound investment for the future.
