BENCH 112 THE WALLOPS
A very heavy, ornate 5 feet long Victorian cast iron bench finished in its original colour, satin black. It has literally been saved from the skip and totally refurbished. After extensive research we cannot find which foundry manufactured it but it is thought to be a municipal park seat made around the time of the Jubilee. The design features decorative scrolled armrests and intricate filigree patterns on the bench supports common to designs in that era. It also has the most wonderful plinth feet. It commanded new solid 25mm thick European oak slats to complement its overall strength and look. These have been fixed with black stainless steel carriage bolts finished with Danish oil. It’s heavy, sturdy and very comfortable and would make a valuable contribution to your garden or terrace.
